Ever heard of Drupal,Wordpress,PHPnooks,Xoops and of course Joomla?Today we will talk about Joomla and if you know Joomla its almost as good as though you know the rest cos they basically do one and the same thing.They are all CMS platforms.Just like Honda,Toyota,Hyundai,BMW are all brands of vehicles.You just need one of them.
As a "Techie",its a common thing to take Webmaster beginners for granted and assume they know some basic things we know.Today I decided not to make that mistake thats why I am doing this...So,for the benefit of the newbies, I will be giving an eye opening or call it an intro or insight of just what Joomla is all about!
So be patient with me the gurus and the accomplished webmasters.We will discuss another day (smiles).
So what is Joomla?
For me Joomla is simple way of building a website,blog or even a full fletch social networking site with little or no knowledge of programming!Some calls it a CMS that is a content management system which adds or modify contents to a website with a simple familiar interface(like that of the Word Processor). But Joomla is more than just a CMS.
So If you are newbie or have been around awhile but never tried Joomla i can help you answer two questions for you;One:What can't I do with Joomla? And two:What can I do with Joomla.
Let me start with the first,What cant I do with Joomla?The fact is, there is absolutely nothing you cannot develop with Joomla!Yes you heard me right.Nothing.And,I will come to this later but let me answer the second question.
What can I do with Joomla?
You can build a simple personal web-presence website,company official website,a huge interactive community social networking site,a portal,directories,multilevels networking site,an office or organizational intranet application,an online real-time processing solution like an air ticketing application,a secure Bank website,a blog,an E-commerce solution like Jumia.com,forum and the limit ends with your imagination.

How exactly does Joomla work?
Well like i explained earlier,Joomla is a simple platform.You can think of it as your DVD player where you plug in a DVD disc and have a blast!There are thousands of plugins in Joomla called extensions that can be integrated to it and you can get any functionality you desire.
These plugins or extensions or components can stretch the usability of the free open source GNU license Joomla codes to any extent.For example you may install a job-board component in your joomla to build a Job Community website and I can go on and on!All extensions,plugins and Joomla Installations are available at www.joomla.org.
